Mercedez-Benz SLS AMG E-cell sports car is in production. |
Mercedes-Benz has yet again invented a super car that uses electricity. It is confirmed that it is in production and will be released next year. This is an invention from Mercedez-Benz that does not function exactly the same way as the other sports cars, its electronic powerstrain gives the E-cell a 0- 100km/h (63mph)time of 4.0 seconds , compared to the SLS AMG 's 0-100/h time of 3.8 seconds. When it comes to speed both cars are electronically limited. The E- cell can hit 250 km/h (155 mph) , while the the SLS tops at 317 km/h (197 mph). While not quite the equal of the gas powered SLS AMG , the E-CELL is clearly in super car territory.Mercedez-Benz
The E-cell provides the four driving programes which are comfort, sports, sports plus and manual. In the comfort mode only 40 percent of the peak power is available ,also in sport mode 60 percent peak power is available and the dampling on the control is considerably reduced. Even though the power has been limited in these modes ,flooring the throttle will provide full power for those moments when passing with exuberance. In speed plus there are no limits. Manual mode acts like sports plus but also turn off the regenerative braking,in the case of the electronic motors the regenerative brakes work as generators to slow the car while recharging the batteries. The flexibility of the E-Cell shows here.

The bad news for now about the SLS AMG E-CELL is that, it is likely to cost more and the first run will be sold by invitation only.Common folks will have acces to the new E-CELL in the 2014 model year. But still for an electronic supercar than can out run the Tesla Roadster perhaps the price will be affordable.
I suspect that this is very expensive,i think mercedes benz company should also focus on cars that are not expesinve so that lower class poeple like us can be able to buy mercedes benz cars
ReplyDeleteMercedes benz is known so its expensive cars,so i think their target groups are high earning people. As for less expensive cars i doubt they are considering that.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if companies that are involved in the sale of petroleum would be happy to hear about a electric powered car. I think some oil company will pay for production on this car to stop
ReplyDeleteAt least someone has put competition on the way, electric cars will somehow force gas; oil;and petrol companies to reduce their prices as there will be someone with a better offer. Well done Mercedes Bens i hope other car manufacturers will join the party.
ReplyDeleteIf i were to choose between the two cars, i would go for the gas powered SLS because of the speed. The electricity powered SLS would not be that reliable when we have power cuts.
ReplyDeletei think electricity cars will be better to use but what if you stug on the way were will you charge you car and if the only meant for going to work amnd shop malls thats the boring thing because obviously the will be expensive
ReplyDeleteYou say that the car will cost more how much more?
